Silky Oak. A rapid growing evergreen tree with, large handsome, fern like leaves that are deep green above and grey-green underneath. Once mature this tree has rich gold blooms that decorate the tree from spring to summer. Loves a warm position and well drained soil. Tolerant of light frost.

The 'Silky Oak' may take up to 10 years to start flowering however this tree has such a nice shape and form that it is worthy of planting even if it never flowers.

It is an attractive NZ forest tree, with dark green oblong leaves with shallowly serrated edges. Plant in good soil, semi shade but is also shade tolerant. Evergreen

It forms a wonderful cover and it has a fresh green colour which is reminiscent of lawn. The foliage is very prickly, a common characteristic of many junipers.
